Probiotic Products

Because of modern agricultural practices, the ground in which our foods are grown are basically sterile.  That means that the homeostatic soil organisms (probiotic bacteria) that should be in our foods are missing.  And, with modern food processing, any probiotic organisms that might have been found in our foods — despite the challenges of sterile ground — have been pretty well killed off.

Add to this the antibiotics — both those that we take and those given to livestock in our food chain — we ingest and the chlorine in our drinking water, which kill of probiotic organisms in the gut, and most of us have significant imbalances in our gut flora.

But, these probiotic organisms are critical to the health and integrity of your gut.  If your gut flora is out of balance, you will not be able to digest your foods adequately, you will be more susceptible to parasites and fungus/yeast infections, gas, bloating, diarrhea and/or constipation, leaky gut syndrome and liver overload, and a host of other problems.  And, since about 80% of your immunity is in the gut, it becomes ever more critical to make sure that there is a good balance of probiotic organism in your system.  The best way to assure this is with probiotic supplementation.

Many of the probiotics on the market today simply aren't worth the cost.  The following are a few of the options I've found most helpful:

Body Ecology also offers the Body Ecology Diet and other training materials on a probiotic diet and detoxification.  I highly recommend these.
