If you value your access to dietary supplements, please know that the EU Food Supplements Directive has huge global implications, and it must be overturned. The Alliance for Natural Health has filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Justice seeking to do just that. Your donations are very urgently needed. [Update: While this suit was ruled upon in June 2005 with some degree of success, the ANH continues to challenge restrictions to health freedom in the courts and through scientific studies. The fight is far from won, and your support is still urgently needed.]
What are the issues here?
To really understand what is going on with this Directive, and how the American dietary supplement industry is being kept in the dark on the CODEX issue, you should read the following articles:
- The July issue of Life Extension Magazine.
- The interview with Greg Ciola in the Health Crusader magazine.
It's essential that you bring this information to your local health food stores. If they are members of NNFA (National Nutritional Foods Association) you should tell them that this information is being actively withheld from them, because NNFA is not enforcing its conflict of interest disclosure bylaw or its Code of Ethics, which means that it's not stopping pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, from joining them.
There's considerable evidence indicating that NNFA is being controlled from the top-down by pharmaceutical interests who are actively lying to them about the Codex vitamin issue and related matters, including the global ramifications of the EU Food Supplement Directive, and why it must be overturned in court.
We must either harmonize the EU to the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA; pronounced du-shay), or we'll be isolated in the world, with regards to this freedom, and forced to harmonize our vitamin law to mindlessly restrictive international standards. A pitched global battle is going on right now, and The International Advocates for Health Freedom it trying to make it far more visible.
Please forward this message, and urge all your friends, family and coworkers to join in the fight. It costs nothing; and by registering at the IAHF website, you're joining the ranks of a world wide, grass roots underground of vitamin consumers who are anti-pharma cartel and united in solidarity behind the ANH lawsuit to overturn the EU Food Supplement Directive. The goal is to harmonize the policy of other nations to the freedoms we now have under DSHEA, and to safeguard our rights from incursions by Pharma/Big Brother.
Just say "No!" to attempts to protect us from natural health products. We don't need such paternalism — especially from a source that has an agenda other than our best interests.
